Internship Opportunities
Legal Intern
(Summer: 40 hours/week for 10 weeks)
Responsibilities can include:
• Preparing memos regarding legal aspects of proposed water quality regulations;
• Researching and reviewing permitting issues to compile data for reports and advocacy efforts;
• Researching and drafting memos for questions on case law, statutes and regulations;
• Assisting in-house attorneys and outside counsel as needed with document review and drafting;
• Researching and investigating new enforcement cases against potential dischargers;
• Conducting settlement compliance monitoring;
• Providing support with case filing and correspondence as needed.
Qualifications:
• At least one year of law school;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Detail-oriented;
• Demonstrated commitment to environmental protection a plus.

GIS Mapping/Analysis Intern
(Spring/Fall: 20 hours/week for 10 weeks)
Responsibilities can include:
• Developing GIS database
• Acquiring relevant data layers
• Developing and designing maps of water pollution
• Conducting GIS analysis of water pollution sources
Qualifications:
• At least two years of undergraduate work and two semesters of GIS related coursework - solid cartography and GIS analysis skills are a must;
• Expertise in database compilation & management, ArcView/Info, GIS based hydrology or watershed analysis experience preferred;
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail;
• Prior environmental protection experience or education a plus.
